The Detroit Tigers have the latest on four injured players, and three of them right-handed reliever Michael Fulmer, outfielder Daz Cameron and infielder Isaac Paredes are making significant progress.
Fulmer reported to Minneapolis on Monday ahead of the three-game series opener with the Minnesota Twins, after pitching twice for Triple-A Toledo in a rehab assignment. He s recovering from a right cervical spine strain, which placed him on the injured list June 27.
Manager AJ Hinch said the Tigers are giving serious consideration to activating Fulmer in the next two days. Before Monday s game, the 28-year-old will pitch in front of pitching coach Chris Fetter, assistant pitching coach Juan Nieves and athletic trainer Doug Teter so the team can fully assess his health.

With the 104th pick in the 2021 MLB draft, the Detroit Tigers have selected Tyler Mattison, a right-handed pitcher out of Bryant University.
Mattison is a fourth-year senior and has spent all four years of his college career as a member of Bryant’s rotation. He was a force to be reckoned with in the Northeast Conference, racking up strikeouts at a rate of 10.64 per nine innings and holding opponents to a 2.46 ERA. It was by far his best season with the Bulldogs and he capitalized by entering the draft despite retaining a fifth year of eligibility.

Back when he was an eighth-grader pitching on the varsity baseball team, the Ft. Anne flamethrower had the size, strength and mental toughness to compete at the highest level, helping Ft. Anne baseball win the Class D State Championhsip.
Mattison would go on to have a tremendous sports career at Ft. Anne where he would shine not only on the baseball diamond, but the hoop courts and soccer field as well.
