In Anderson County, a viewer reached out to 10News saying for several weeks the county jail has been without air conditioning. Tyler Mayes with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office said the jail has had a slew of air conditioning problems recently. In the women’s wing, he said the air condition has been out for about two weeks, but once the problem was recognized the inmates were moved to a unit with functioning air conditioning. ....
Child, 7, struck by truck in Claxton Oakridger A driver reportedly hit and injured a 7-year-old child from Powell on Edgemoor Road near Mooncrest Lane at 6:59 p.m. Wednesday, April 7. In a preliminary incident report, the Tennessee Highway Patrol indicated the 58-year-old driver, Charles Bentley, was traveling east on Edgemoor Road near Mooncrest Lane with passenger Samantha Bentley, 53, both of Knoxville, in a 2002 Ford F-150 pickup truck. Three pedestrians were reportedly standing in the continuous turn lane, and the child reportedly walked out of the turn lane into the truck lane of travel. After allegedly hitting the child, who was not identified in the report, the truck reportedly came to “a final controlled rest in the eastbound lane of travel.” ....
