“It’s going to be extremely hard [to find new accommodation] in Westport,” Croft said, “There was already a housing crisis. I m absolutely gutted. I try to keep my chin up. It’s better than crying.” They are among 200 to 300 Westport residents expected to be forced from their homes due to the floods. Buller District Mayor Jamie Cleine said on Wednesday he expected about 100 properties would be “red-stickered”. More than 30 had been deemed uninhabitable so far.

FARGO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jack Pollert lead a balanced offense as five Shanley Deacons socred in double figures in a 77-49 win over Valley City Tuesday night at the Deacon Gym.
Pollert had 15 points to lead the Deacons. Connor Kraft had 14 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and three blocked shots. Tyler Kraft had 13 points, Braden DeKeyser had 12 points and Emmet Kenneyhad 10 points.
Peyton Zaun had 14 points to lead Valley City. Derrick Diegel had eight points and a team high five rebounds. Jared Eggermont and Andrew Berntson both had seven points and four rebounds.
Shanley improves to 8-7 in the Eastern Dakota Conference and 8-8 overall. Valley City falls to 5-11 in the EDC and 4-13 overall.
VALLY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Fargo Shanley used a 15-0 run in the first half to take a 12 point lead and held that lead the rest of the game in a 68-52 win over Valley City in boys basketball Tuesday night at the Hi-Liner Activity Center.
Valley City took its only lead at 5-4 on a bucket inside by Calahan Burchill then extended the lead to 7-4 on a basket underneath by Drew Zaun with 15:33 to go in the first half. That would be the last lead the Hi-Liners would have. The Deacons would hold the Hi-Liners scoreless for the next 6:40 and go on a 15-0 run to open up a 19-7 lead. The two teams would be dead even the rest of the half 22-22 for a 41-29 lead at the half.
