Authorities say he was stabbed and set on fire, and his burning body left next to a trash container near the Parkhurst Apartments. An autopsy concluded that he died of smoke inhalation and thermal injuries as well as multiple stab wounds. Zahmire Welcome, previously of Freemansburg, was one of five gang members charged in connection with criminal activities, including homicide. On Wednesday, the 22-year-old Welcome pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge. He is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 1, and the plea deal includes a time-served sentence. Chief Deputy District Attorney Bethany Zampogna said the sentencing range would nearly 21 months by next month’s hearing. Welcome has been in prison on $1 million bail in the case since April 2019. ....
