The 41-year-old man has risen from a rough-and-tumble life on the streets to earning a Ph.D. and becoming a college professor. On Friday, he attained another important goal when he received a pardon from Gov. Tony Evers for a drug conviction that had followed him around for 20 years. The pardon reflects that House has turned his life around and deserves to have certain rights restored, including the right to run for public office. Tony Evers issued 13 more pardons Friday, bringing his total to 157 pardons since taking office. “Through a pardon, an individual is given the opportunity to make amends and give back to their community and our state,” Evers said. “It continues to be extraordinary listening to the stories of so many who have paid their debt and deserve a second chance. Today, I am glad to be able to grant these 13 pardons.” Evers’ Pardon Advisory Board heard testimony from applicants on Feb. 12 before passing along final recommendations for pardons to Evers for a final decision. ....
