Phillies - Nationals Game Postponed Due To COVID Issues

5:05 pm: There are twelve total positive cases, manager Dave Martinez told reporters (including Jesse Dougherty of the Washington Post). Those are four players (including Turner) and eight staff members. Eleven of the twelve have been vaccinated, according to Martinez. Fortunately, no one involved feels seriously ill, which the skipper attributed to the high vaccination rate among those infected.
MLB has tentatively scheduled a doubleheader tomorrow to make up tonight’s game. That, of course, is pending additional follow-up testing.

The Washington Nationals game Wednesday against the host Philadelphia Phillies was postponed due to an outbreak of COVID-19 among the Nationals.
Nationals manager Dave Martinez told reporters that his team had 12 positive cases of COVID-19. Four of them were players, including shortstop Trea Turner, and some of those with the virus were symptomatic. Martinez believed only one of the 12 people who tested positive was unvaccinated.
The outbreak comes one day after Washington pulled Turner from Tuesday s game after the club learned he had tested positive.
Wednesday s game was scheduled to be made up as part of a single-admission doubleheader on Thursday. The early game will begin at 12:05 p.m. ET. ....

The Washington Nationals game Wednesday against the host Philadelphia Phillies was postponed due to an outbreak of COVID-19 among the Nationals, multiple reports said.
The outbreak comes one day after Washington pulled shortstop Trea Turner from Tuesday s game Tuesday after the club learned he had tested positive.
The number of positive cases was not reported, but ESPN reported that multiple players and coaches had tested positive and the outbreak may wind up as biggest in MLB this year.
In a sign of what was to come, the team pushed back its daily pre-game media availability with manager Dave Martinez roughly 2 1/2 hours before first pitch and did not release a lineup. ....

Four Washington Nationals players and eight staff members have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the team s manager, forcing Major League Baseball to cancel the team s game against the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday.
Dave Martinez, the Nationals manager, announced the positive COVID cases in a news conference Wednesday. Martinez said shortstop Trea Turner was one of the players who tested positive and said only one of the positive cases came from a person who was not vaccinated.
Some of the guys are asymptomatic, some are symptomatic. It s unfortunate this happened but we ve got to follow MLB protocols, Martinez said. I really worry about the health and safety of everybody in our clubhouse, and everybody else who can be affected. ....

The Washington Nationals game against the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday has been postponed due to a dozen Covid-19 cases within the Nationals organization.
Nationals manager Dave Martinez said on a video news conference that four players and eight staff members had positive tests results for the coronavirus.
The manager said some people had symptoms and some were asymptomatic. None appeared to be very sick, he added. ....
