Wicked Local PLYMOUTH – Farmer Dave wants everyone to know something about the Plymouth Farmers Market: “We’re back, y’all!” “We will be back at Plimoth Patuxet Museum this month,” said Farmer Dave, aka Dave Purpura of Plato’s Harvest Organic Farm in Middleboro. “We will have a full festival-style market outdoors with about 25 vendors, food, music and more.” Beginning May 20, Plymouth Farmers Market returns 2:30 to 6 p.m. every Thursday through November. Visitors will find fresh produce direct from local farms, as well as other food grown or prepared by local people. “We’ll have a lot of early leafy vegetables to start, including spinach, kale, chard and lettuce,” Purpura said. “In a few weeks, peas, carrots, beets and other produce will be coming in. The mushroom guy will also be there with his crop.” ....
Boys Track & Field: Olentangy Orange Pioneers maintain high expectations ThisWeek group Olentangy Orange boys track and field coach Adam Walters had state championship hopes last spring after the Pioneers won the Division I team title at the state indoor meet. However, the season was canceled because of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. Walters has a different group of athletes this spring, but the same high expectations. “Things are different this year, but I like what we have,” said Walters, who is in his seventh season. “We’re probably not a top-five team in the state, but I like the pieces that we have.” ....
Softball: ‘Coachable’ Olentangy Berlin Bears driven to succeed ThisWeek group The Olentangy Berlin softball team features six players returning from 2019, including four starters, as coach Jenna Tullis tries to make the most of a more experienced roster. Senior first baseman Allie Burkhart batted .384 with two homers, 13 RBI and 16 runs as a sophomore, while senior Remy Camp and junior Syd Billy started at shortstop and second base, respectively. Junior Kali Bateman returns at pitcher, and senior outfielders Sydney Cain and Autumn LeFevre also saw varsity time. “We have a nice blend of young players and veterans, and I think the girls have a willingness to learn and grow,” Tullis said. “They are open and coachable and constantly want feedback in order to get better. The girls are willing to stay after practice for reps, and they want to get better.” ....

Boys cross country coach John Galbreath and boys golf coach Ryan Hosack recently resigned, according to athletics director Richie Wildenhaus. Wildenhaus said Galbreath is stepping back in anticipation of retiring from teaching after the 2021-22 academic year but plans to remain involved with the program. In five seasons, his teams won four league championships. Last fall, the Eagles finished one spot from advancing to the Division I state meet. Victor Orsinelli (21st), Will Benseler (33rd) and Ethan McNichols (97th) competed at state as individuals. Hosack, who coached for two seasons, has taken a job in the Denver area. The Eagles won the OCC-Capital Division title in 2019. ....
