Nine fines issued following house party in Amesbury. Picture from Wiltshire Police NINE people have been fined £200 each after police were called to a house party in Amesbury. Police officers attended the address in Shears Drive at around 4.45pm yesterday (February 1) and found nine adults and one child having a barbecue in the garden. The nine adults, who were aged between 20 and 44 and all lived in the Amesbury and Salisbury areas, have been issued with fixed penalty notices. They have been fined £200 in line with the Government s rules for gatherings with under 15 people in attendance. Superintendent Dave Minty, from Wiltshire Police, said he was disappointed by the blatant breach of the lockdown rules. ....
Officers stopped the vehicle on the A360 in Potterne at around 1am yesterday (February 1). The driver, a man in his 30s, admitted he was just out for a drive and to get some food from a shop. He was handed a fixed penalty notice for breaching the Covid-19 lockdown, as well as a £100 fine and three points on his licence for having a defective tyre. The car was also seized for having no tax. A Devizes police spokesman said: Thank you to the vast majority of people who are continuing to adhere to the lockdown restrictions, and please be reassured that we will take action against those who deliberately flout the rules. ....
