Dundurn Press unveils new logo, imprint, and mandate Dundurn Press is lowering the drawbridge. The 49-year-old Toronto independent press is rebranding with a new logo, new literary imprint, new mandate, and new focus on community engagement. The old logo was inspired by Hamilton’s neoclassical mansion Dundurn Castle; the new logo takes a detail from the original, an arched window, and reimagines it in an electric magenta. The logo is intended to symbolize the company’s new openness. “I’m excited that we’re becoming a contemporary, forward-facing business,” publisher Scott Fraser says. “With a new street-level retail storefront opening later in 2021, we’re opening ourselves up to the community and publishing innovative books in a welcoming environment, instead of behind the walls of Dundurn as a castle.” The store, located at 1382 Queen St. E., will sell Dundurn titles. Akron police SAKI unit gets $150,000 for cold case rape investigations

Akron police hope the coming year will mean they can resolve as many as 20 rape and sexual assault cases that could otherwise be forgotten. All it takes is some DNA and potential matches with family members that could lead to the identification of predators who ve so far remained anonymous. The department last month announced it was awarded $150,000 to cover the cost of comparing DNA evidence from cold cases with DNA profiles in commercial databases maintained by services including Ancestry.com and 23andMe. It was the third year the department s team received a grant, after it received a total of nearly $3 million over the last two years.
