Sunderland AFC is delighted to announce David Preece as the club’s new first-team goalkeeping coach.
Preece, who began his playing career on Wearside, joins the club’s backroom staff on a permanent basis after assisting the first team throughout their pre-season preparations ahead of the 2021-22 campaign.
After leaving Sunderland in 1997, Preece went on to feature for several other clubs, including Darlington, Aberdeen, Silkeborg IF, Barnsley and Lincoln City.
The 44-year-old has also spent time with the Imps in a coaching capacity, with his most-recent role based in Sweden as a goalkeeping coach at Allsvenskan outfit Ostersunds FK.
Upon joining SAFC, Preece said: “It would be an understatement to say that I m delighted to be back at the club. I’m looking forward to the season ahead and all I want to do now is to get to work alongside the great staff and players already in place and do whatever I can to help the club progress. ....
