Deputy principal Yevette Williams is leaving St Peter's, Cambridge, after an unexplained absence and the resignation of the executive principal, her husband.
“The Trust Board, senior leadership team and staff have worked with WorkSafe on updating and enhancing policies and procedures to ensure that we have the right environment to support great learning and teaching,” he said. “At a Board level, some new committees have been created to engage a broad range of stakeholders and to ensure open dialogue occur around all key areas of the school.” Macaskill-Smith said a new staff representative had also been elected to the board to assist that process. “As the Chair of St Peter’s, Cambridge, I am proud of the way our team have continued to deliver exemplary education and care of our students during this time. I also extend my thanks to the WorkSafe Kaimahi Hauora team for their supportive and constructive approach,” he said.
Poutasi said the school had offered full cooperation and involvement with WorkSafe processes, and thanked staff who raised concerns about the school. “WorkSafe would like to commend the workers who raised concerns and acknowledge how their actions have led St Peter’s School Cambridge to recognise an issue and take positive steps to look after the health and safety of their staff,” he said.

WorkSafe commended St Peter’s workers who raised concerns about staff wellbeing. “The school’s Board of Trustees has implemented a number of improvements including new policies and procedures relating to staff wellbeing. These improvements have satisfied WorkSafe that staff wellbeing will be looked after, and no further action or involvement is needed from WorkSafe.”

Principal of top private school resigns amid bullying investigation Thu, 27 May 2021, 1:01PM
The principal of St Peter s School in Cambridge has resigned amid an investigation into bullying at the school prompted by a number of complaints to Worksafe.
A school spokeswoman this afternoon told the
Herald principal Dale Burden had resigned, effective tomorrow, but would not be returning to the school.
Earlier this month questions arose about the absence of Burden and his wife, and deputy principal, Yevette Williams who had not been seen at the school since before the end of the first term.
