Ottawa man, 60, facing sexual assault charges

OTTAWA
A 60-year-old Ottawa man is facing sexual assault charges following an investigation into separate incidents involving two women.
Police say the alleged incidents occurred in 2014 and 2019.
Jody Royer is charged with two counts of sexual assault, one count of administer noxious substance, one count of attempt to administer a noxious substance, one count of forcible confinement and one count of obtaining sexual services for consideration.
Investigators say they believe there may be other victims. Police say Royer has been using various profile names online, including Craig B and Craig Booth.
The historic nature of this ongoing investigation suggest that more crimes may have been committed, said Sgt. Damien Laflamme. ....

Ottawa man, 60, charged with sex assault of two women, police believe there may be other victims

He appeared in court on Thursday.
Investigators in the Ottawa Police Service’s human trafficking unit believe there may be other victims.
“The historic nature of this ongoing investigation suggest that more crimes may have been committed,” said the unit’s Sgt. Damien Laflamme. “We urge survivors of such violent acts against women to come forward to police with the knowledge that our Human Trafficking team has significant resources to support and enable them to break their silence. You’re not alone, we will support you.”

Ottawa police say they are concerned there may be other victims after charging a 25-year-old man with human trafficking offences.
The Ottawa Police human trafficking unit launched an investigation in early October when a survivor came forward to police. Police say the information was collaborated through a number of investigative means.
Police say the alleged incidents occurred between 2019 and 2020.
In October, police charged Danny Naaman of Ottawa with several offences, including trafficking in persons by recruiting, trafficking in persons by exercising control, advertising another person s sexual services, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and harassment by threatening conduct. ....
