Chapman's return at third base a big boost for new-looks A's

“I feel ready to play third base every day now,” the 27-year-old Chapman said. “I know that what I say doesn’t really mean much to them. They’re going to take it slow. There’s no reason to rush. … I’ve played enough now to know that my body feels good and I feel like I’m ready to play third base every day.”

Elvis Andrus. In addition to those highlight names, the A’s also sent over a pair of prospects, and the Rangers kicked in a considerable amount of cash plus another player.
In terms of payroll, the exchange was Andrus for Davis, each earning eight figures this season. But Davis might not have played a big role on the A’s this year anyway if his long slump continued, so in 2021 roster terms it was more like Andrus for ....

Oakland A's news: Pedro Gomez, ESPN journalist and former A's beat writer, dies at 58

morning afternoon, Athletics Nation!
The baseball world lost one of its top journalists on Sunday, as ESPN reporter Pedro Gomez died at age 58. The cause of death has not been revealed, but ESPN’s news release states that he “passed away unexpectedly.”
While Gomez began his sportswriting career in Miami in 1985, his first full-time job as an MLB beat writer came in 1992, when he covered the Oakland A’s for the
San Jose Mercury News (and later the
Sacramento Bee). From there he became a national reporter for the
Arizona Republic, and in 2003 he joined ESPN. One of the highlights of his time at ESPN was his coverage of Barry Bonds and the slugger’s chase for the career home run record. ....
