Daniel Shaver's parents settle with Mesa for $1.5 million

Mesa recently paid $1.5 million to the parents of Daniel Shaver, who police shot and killed five years ago.
The payment comes as the city and parents Norma and Grady Shaver signed off on a settlement agreement last month, while the Texas man’s widow is pressing for a trial in her ongoing suit against the city.
Shaver was fatally shot in a Mesa hotel hallway as he was on his knees, unarmed and begging for his life, according to a police report and body camera footage from January 2016.
Then-Officer Philip “Mitch” Brailsford shot Shaver, 26, five times after he moved his hand near his waistband, indicating that he may have been armed, according to the police report. ....

Protests are a fickle matter. You can t make people care. George Floyd was a one in a million shot record on a 17 year old phone. Against all odds a single person gave a fuck. against all odds a hundred more gave a single fuck. against all odds thousands, then millions, then the world gave a single fuck.
Protests are not fairly disturbed. That s not the point. It s not a contradictory to have one protest and not available for another. It was a one in a million shot to begin with. Why discredit it when we already know its a common problem? Why dilute ourselves on everything and get nothing done?
