2 more in custody after police say gun sale led to pair of fatal shootings in west Oak Cliff

Two more men are in custody after a pair of fatal shootings in west Oak Cliff over the weekend.
Joe Martinez and Antonio Dwayne Mathis, both 21, each face one count of murder in the death of 20-year-old Christopher Ramirez Veloz. Bryan Bernal Rivas, 17, was previously arrested on a murder charge in connection with another death from the same incident.
Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the scene and transported Veloz to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
According to police, officers were also dispatched to the Ridgecrest Apartments located at 418 S. Walton Walker in regards to a shooting call at approximately 2:41 p.m.
When officers arrived, they located the victim, 21-year-old Daniel Victor Barrera, Jr., laying on the ground after being shot, police said.
Dallas Fire-Rescue transported the Barrera to an area hospital where he, too, was pronounced dead.
According to police, the two shootings on Sunday afternoon are related.
Police said during their investigation, homicide detectives determined that 17-year-old Bryan Bernal Rivas was responsible for killing Barrera.

A 17-year-old was arrested Sunday after police said he shot and killed a man at the Ridgecrest Apartments in Dallas.
According to authorities, Bryan Bernal Rivas shot 21-year-old Daniel Victor Barrera near the 418 block of S. Walton Walker. Police said Barrera was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Rivas faces a murder charge in connection with the shooting and remains in custody in lieu of a $500,000 bail, according to jail records.
Dallas police are also investigating another shooting that occurred around 2:30 p.m. Sunday near the 1250 block of Moulin Rouge Drive.
Detectives said 20-year-old Christopher Ramirez Veloz was shot several times. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
