According to the state s vaccine dashboard, there s a 33% gap between the Missouri county with the highest vaccination rate, Boone County, and the one with the lowest, Pulaski County. Boone County Commissioner Daniel Atwill acknowledged at the county s May 3 public health briefing that rural communities are falling behind. COLUMBIA- Swift Prepared Foods announced Wednesday that Columbia will be the host to an Italian meats and charcuterie production plant. The 325,000 square foot plant will be built on Paris Road, and the company is a subsidiary of JBS USA. According to a news release, the construction will bring up to 250 jobs to Columbia, with average salaries of $52,695 and a total annual payroll of $13.23 million. Ashton Kever from the Missouri Department of Economic Development talked about how important the jobs are to help the economy. Having these kinds of opportunities for him in like Missouri s workforce is, like, perfect. Boone County Commission announces plan for remaining portion of CARES Act funding COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ) The Boone County Commission has announced its plan for the remaining portion of the $21.1 million in CARES Act funding. Boone County has received more than $40 million in funding requests and is set to approve at least a dozen CARES Act funding request Thursday and four funding requests next Tuesday. Leaders say 90-percent of organizations already selected to receive CARES Act funding have received contracts from the county.
