Covid-19 Vaccination Latest: Thousands jabbed at St Augustines hospital
Thousands of health care workers got their Covid-19 vaccine at the hospital, although many waited all day in long queues.
Netcare St Augustine’s Hospital is currently vaccinating many eligible healthcare workers who have registered to receive their COVID-19 vaccination at the site in Durban.
Netcare Hospitals managing director, Jacques du Plessis, confirmed that Netcare St Augustine’s Hospital had been set up to receive the high number of healthcare workers. 
According to Anju Maharaj, nursing services manager at Netcare St Augustine’s Hospital, the facility was managing to process the high number of health care worksers who had arrived for their Covid-19 vaccinations. She said a total of 28 vaccinators were on hand assisting the recipients. ....

Monday, 3 May, Amnesty International has been gathering messages of support for the people of Myanmar. The country’s military shut down the internet months ago, but local news publications have kept information flowing using radio and satellite. 
Amnesty International will broadcast messages of support sent from around the world “to tell the people of Myanmar we have not forgotten about them”. Use the hashtag #MyanmarNeverSilenced on social media to submit your message.

In South Africa, Tuberculosis (TB) affects more men than women. The Desmond Tutu Health Foundation has called for the consideration of men’s voices when designing treatment and prevention programmes.
The current ‘one-size-fits all approach’ is not working to adequately fight the TB epidemic, the Desmond Tutu Health Foundation said. Instead, interventions need to do more to include the voices of men, and challenge masculine tropes that create barriers to holistic treatment.
Speaking during a webinar organised by the International Aids Society (IAS) on Tuesday, Andrew Medina-Marino of the Desmond Tutu Health Foundation said men need to be empowered to challenge unhealthy masculinity norms that impact their health. ....
