Airport Road open after Destin Water Users construction
Special to Gannett
DESTIN – Airport Road is now open after Destin Water Users completed installation of a new reclaimed water line across the road. The road was reopened around 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, after completion of repaving.
Destin Water Users will continue extending the new reclaimed water line west along Airport Road right-of-way to Kell Aire Drive. From there, the reclaimed line will turn north, and Destin Water Users will work through Kell Aire and Spring Lake Subdivisions to extend the line to the Destin Elementary School.
Destin Water Users thanks the public for their cooperation with this recent road closure and encourages motorists to use caution around future construction areas.
The Destin Log
Folks around the area took advantage of celebrating a little Christmas cheer this weekend in Destin as thousands lined U.S. 98 for the Joy to the World street parade on Saturday and then filled the harbor boardwalk and docks Sunday evening for the Holiday on the Harbor Destin Lighted Boat Parade. (The parade) was amazing, said Destin City Councilman Kevin Schmidt. Thank you to the city of Destin government, city staff, Lisa Firth and her team, and all the amazing volunteers for putting together the Destin Christmas Parade in record time.
Schmidt, who was recently elected to the council, asked the question a few weeks ago as to whether Destin was going to have a parade. Although some questioned the idea because of the uptick of COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County, the council decided to move forward with the Christmas parade.
