Summer vacations: No e-classes for private schools in Delhi | Delhi News


The schools have been allowed to conduct vacation-related activities and remedial classes for a specific set of students
NEW DELHI: Private schools can’t hold regular academic classes during summer vacation, which began on April 20 for schools in Delhi.
Directorate of Education issued the orders on Wednesday as many private schools were continuing online classes in spite of vacations. On Tuesday, the private school association had also held a meeting and resolved to continue with the classes till mid- May.
The circular, said, “It has been brought to the notice of this directorate that despite the summer vacation, which has been advanced due to surge in Covid-19 cases, online classes are continued by some private unaided recognised schools…it is expedient that the direction issued with respect to government schools and government aided schools for suspension of online classes is extended for private unaided recognised schools of Delhi also.” ....

Delhi Schools are set to reopen from January 18, 2021 after over 9 months for students of classes 10 and 12. Schools have welcomed the decision, parents are divided. Some are happy while other wanted more time.

A section of parents in the national capital on Wednesday welcomed the Delhi government s decision to allow schools to reopen for students of classes 10 and 12, while others felt it is unsafe to resume classroom learning before a vaccine against COVID-19 is available.

Those welcoming the decision said that it will give students the opportunity to clarify their doubts and get into the exam mode before board exams begin in May.  Students have been home bound for over 10 months. In an attempt to ensure no loss of learning in times of COVID19, Delhi Cabinet has okayed Rs. 64 crore cash subsidy for textbooks to about 11 lakh students of government, aided schools.

The Delhi Cabinet on Tuesday approved over Rs 64 crore for disbursement of cash subsidy to about 11 lakh students of Delhi Government and aided schools for their textbooks and writing material. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who also holds the education portfolio, said in such a difficult time of the coronavirus pandemic, the Delhi Government wants to limit the disruption caused to education of children as much as possible. ....

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has announced the decision to provide dry rations to students studying in Delhi Government Schools for 6 months as schools remain closed in the city.

The Delhi government will provide dry ration to the students of its schools for a six-month period under the mid-day meal scheme, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on Tuesday. The move comes in view of the continued closure of schools since March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
When the schools were closed, we decided to send the money for mid-day meals to the parents accounts, but now, it has been decided that we will give dry ration for six months, Kejriwal said at a dry ration distribution event at a government school in the Mandawali area. ....
