In a move to tackle CO2 emissions and improve air quality, the Delhi government is gearing up to introduce 1,000 electric buses in the national capital by the end of 2021, transport minister Kailash Gahlot said.
Delhi is the only state where the entire public transport is on CNG. We have already made an announcement that we will buy only electric buses for public transport henceforth. Nitin Gadkari, the Indian Minister of Road Transport and Highways, recently informed the parliament that the Delhi government has provisions to offer vehicle scrapping incentives under the purview of the Delhi EV Policy. According to a PTI report, he noted that scrapping incentives of up to ₹7,500 per vehicle for auto and light commercial vehicles are being provided by the Delhi government as part of the provisions of the Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy 2020, which was announced on 7 August 2020 with the aim to boost the adoption of electric mobility solutions across the city. ....
