It means the number of people to have died with Covid at county NHS trusts remains 595 – 554 at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, 34 at Shropshire Community Health Trust, and seven at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital near Oswestry. ....
PARENTS and guardians of babies receiving care on the Neonatal Unit at the Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) in Telford will no longer face restrictions on when and how long they can spend time with their baby. Two parents, or a parent and named guardian, are now able to visit the unit together and have access to the unit at any time, day or night after further loosening of Covid-19 restrictions. At the start of the pandemic, The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH), which runs PRH, suspended visiting to help slow the spread of the virus. On the Neonatal Unit, parents or a named carer were allowed to visit, but were required to alternate their visits throughout a 24-hour period, with one hour joint visiting permitted. ....
CROSS-BORDER data sharing is being improved to help women who live in one county but receive maternity care or give birth in another, an NHS trust report says. Healthwatch Shropshire chairman Vanessa Barrett said the organisation was “particularly aware” of the issue and how it affected cases in places like Hereford, mid-Wales and Wolverhampton. In a written answer, the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust said it was working with partners in Powys to ensure “robust pathways for women that have shared care” and a similar dialogue was starting with Wrexham to help women know the differences between the areas’ offers and choose between them. ....
Meanwhile, Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust (Shropcom) faced losing around £260,000 with 1,625 unattended appointments. Health bosses have urged people to attend their appointments, or let someone know if they need to cancel. Stacey Keegan, chief nurse and patient safety officer at RJAH, said: “We would like to advise patients that it is important you attend at the date and time you are offered in your appointment letter. If for any reason you find you cannot attend, then please let us know as soon as possible as we may then be able to offer your slot to someone else. “Over the last 12 months, we have done a large number of appointments over the telephone and virtually but when people need to attend face-to-face appointments, it is safe for them to do so. ....
