A second bid to be released on bail by Ntuthuko Shoba has failed in the Roodepoort magistrate’s court.
Magistrate Delize Smith said on Friday it was not in the interest of justice to release him.
The packed gallery rejoiced when the decision was announced.
The court heard that most of the evidence revealed in his second bail application was not entirely “new facts” and that it had been heard during his previous bail application. ....

A second bid to be released on bail by Ntuthuko Shoba has failed in the Roodepoort magistrate’s court.
Magistrate Delize Smith said on Friday it was not in the interest of justice to release him.
Shoba is the alleged mastermind behind the murder of his lover Tshegofatso Pule, who was eight months pregnant.
“These wounds keep being opened all over again,” family spokesperson Bothlale Modisane said after hearing Shoba’s second bail application was denied on Friday morning. ....

Murder-accused Ntuthuko Shoba was denied bail for the second time in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

Shoba has been accused of the brutal murder of 28-year-old Tshegofatso Pule, who was 8-months pregnant at the time of her death.

Magistrate Delize Smith said Shoba brought no new evidence which would convince the court to grant him bail.

“These are not new facts as anticipated in the bringing of a new bail application. I will however refer to some of these. The applicant already at the first bail application indicated that he had cooperated with the police during the investigation. The mere fact that he now elaborates how he assisted with the CCTV at the complex is not a new fact as it was known at the day of the first application.” ....

Ntuthuko Shoba not playing open cards about financial affairs: state

Investigating officer Bongani Gerald Mpete said in a statement that Shoba had neglected to inform the court that he partnered with someone else in a business venture and that it can still operate without his involvement.
“To this day, the said business is in operation. His business partner was interviewed and he informed me that the applicant did not show much interest in it before his arrest, more so after the arrest of Mr Malephane.
“The said business partner informed me that he was the person who is actively involved in the said business full-time and not the applicant. That the applicant is employed full-time is enough demonstration that he is not entirely active in the said business affairs, as he wants this court to believe.” ....

Shoba has previously applied for bail, but was unsuccessful. At the time, magistrate Delize Smith said he had “not shown that he will stand trial”.
Responding to Shoba’s affidavit after his last court appearance on April 6, state prosecutor Paseka Temeki told the court that Pule was left to face the pregnancy on her own and was repeatedly left disappointed by Shoba.
During court proceedings, Shoba, who was clad all in black, took notes in the dock while Temeki was reading his responding statement. Temeki told the court that Shoba:
was absent and always made excuses that he had to work; ....
