Audubon Pennsylvania merged with Maryland-DC unit Updated Feb 25, 2021; The National Audubon Society has merged Audubon Pennsylvania and Audubon Maryland-DC into the Audubon Mid-Atlantic regional office, under new executive director Suzanne Biemiller. Biemiller, who is now also vice president at the national organization, joined Audubon after founding the policy-focused consulting firm Highland Strategies and serving as first deputy chief of staff in the administration of former Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter. According to Audubon, in her new post Biemiller “will build on the successful on-the-ground efforts in Pennsylvania and Maryland to develop a large-scale conservation vision for the Mid-Atlantic, a critically important region for bird species traveling along the Atlantic Flyway.” ....

Stacy Levy is an artist who works with rain, urban tides, and watersheds. She has created temporary and permanent works in Philadelphia, New York, Seattle, Phoenix, Tampa, Miami, San Antonio, and Fayetteville, Arkansas. She has been awarded the Henry Meigs Environmental Leadership Award, the Penn Future Award for Women in Conservation, and a Pew Fellowship in the Arts. Growing up in Philadelphia, I never knew where the Schuylkill River met, and flowed into, the Delaware River. The city sits tightly cinched between our two rivers, but the relationship of the big river and the little river is a bit of a mystery. ....

Steven Schwartz has been involved in various conservation and environmental projects over the last 15 years. Currently, he is leading the Upper Delaware Knotweed landscape scale research and management project sponsored by Friends of the Upper Delaware River; wrapping up his involvement in helping to coordinate the Pocono Kittatinny Cluster in the Delaware River Watershed Initiative; helping organize the Upper Delaware Earth to Sky Climate Change workshops sponsored by NASA and the National Park Service; lending a hand to the 2021 Upper Delaware BioBlitz; and preparing for maple sugaring season while keeping the home fire burning. ....
