Scudder Falls Bridge: Work could cause 2-hours delays, heavy traffic

Bucks County commuters should brace for a carmageddon of sorts next week when construction work reduces travel lanes across one of the busiest toll bridges in the region.
On Friday the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission issued a “severe travel warning” for the Scudder-Falls Toll Bridge which connects Bucks County and Mercer County, New Jersey.
The two New Jersey-bound travel lanes will be narrowed to a single lane for I-295 commuters on Wednesday morning during peak commuting hours, the commission said in a press release. The closures are expected to last from 5 a.m. to noon.
Travel from New Jersey into Pennsylvania at the Scudder-Fall Bridge will not be impacted. ....

Tolls on Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission spans increasing

The pandemic has taken its toll on funding for Delaware River bridges, officials say, and drivers who use the spans operated by the Delaware River Toll Bridge Commission will now need to pay more to cross.
The commission operates eight toll bridges and 12 toll-support bridges over the Delaware from the Philadelphia-Bucks County line north to the New Jersey-New York border.
Here the spans include the Trenton-Morrisville (Route 1 toll), the Lower Trenton, the Calhoun Street, Scudder Falls toll, Washington Crossing, New Hope-Lambertville, Route 202 toll, Centre- Stockton, Lumberville-Raven Rock, Uhlerstown-Frenchtown, Upper Black Eddy-Milford and Riegelsville bridges.
It announced Monday that due to declines in toll revenue as more people work from home rather than commute across the river, it will have to raise its rates for the first system-wide toll adjustment in 10 years. ....
