KENOSHA â Since his first appearance in court in 2019 to the moment he was sentenced Friday to spend the rest of his life in prison for murder, Edward Pendleton Jr. has loudly and insistently declared his innocence.
âI cannot understand why this is happening to me,â Pendleton said, declaring he was being railroaded. âI did not shoot this man. I am not a murderer. I have never shot a gun in my life.â
Pendleton, 59, was convicted by a jury in March of killing 42-year-old Marlon Allen of Kenosha in what prosecutors said was a botched drug robbery.
At his sentencing Friday, Pendleton continually interrupted Assistant District Attorney Drew Burgoyne as he made his recommendations on sentencing to Kenosha County Circuit Court Judge Bruce Schroeder.

KENOSHA â In what he said âmay be the most problematic caseâ of his nearly four-decades long career on the bench, Kenosha County Circuit Court Judge Bruce Schroeder offered a man who pleaded guilty to a vigilante homicide an opportunity for redemption.
âYou will have an opportunity to be released,â Schroeder told Bryan Luitze II as he sentenced him on Tuesday to spend at least 20 years in prison â the minimum allowed by law for first-degree intentional homicide â before he becomes eligible to apply for parole. âWhether you are (released) or not will be up to you.â
Luitze, 26, admitted to killing his grandfather, 70-year-old Charles Luitze of Somers.
