Kyle Berryhill is only 30, but since COVID-19 hit, he’s now the oldest in his family. Within a matter of weeks in late 2020, he lost his uncle who was more like an older brother to him and his grandfather to COVID-19. He’s relied on his Christian faith to push through the past year as he’s tried to keep his wife and children safe. Kyle’s uncle, Phillip Berryhill, was a choir director with the Chickasaw Nation. He had a natural gift for interacting with kids and a wonderful voice he used to sing songs from old movies and musicals, his nephew said. Kyle and his uncle were close and spent time together just about every weekend. The family would watch movies, play games just be together. ....

By: Erica Rankin OKLAHOMA CITY - Gov. Kevin Stitt announced the decision Monday to withdraw the state’s COVID-19 emergency declaration. He proudly noted Oklahoma’s 7-day average of new cases is down 94% from its peak, among the lowest per capita rates in the country. The lift of the emergency declaration will affect some data reporting, but Stitt said the state and health department will remain vigilant. Back on March 15 of 2020 is when Stitt issued this COVID-19 state of emergency declaration. After 415 days, with hospitalizations down 90% and remaining steady in the state, Stitt said now is the time to get our summer back in Oklahoma. So, he decided after much planning to withdraw the declaration. ....
By: Jordan Dafnis OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma State Department of Health said it is changing the way it reports daily information about COVID-19 cases in Oklahoma. The announcement comes after Governor Kevin Stitt lifted the state of emergency Monday. Health officials said they are still finalizing the details. So far, the agency said it will stop releasing the daily executive order report. Instead, any data contained in the order report will be released in its daily update, which is released by the department weekdays around 11 a.m. The update will continue to report new cases, seven-day case average, currently hospitalized figures and intensive care numbers from Health and Human Services. If needed, OSDH said it will report positivity with positive and negative test results. ....
