Smart communication for satellite clusters
Constellations of small, smart satellites in low Earth orbit are set to open up a galaxy of opportunities for Defence.
Underpinned by Defence s Resilient Multi-Mission Space STaR Shot, these opportunities are expected to lead to enhanced operational capabilities across surveillance; space situational awareness; position, navigation and timing; geospatial intelligence; and resilient global communications.
Equipping space satellite clusters with an increasing level of autonomy requires the development of flexible and interconnected communications architectures and protocols. Defence scientist Dr Balachander Ramamurthy is leading a Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) team in collaboration with the University of South Australia (UniSA) that is investigating this emerging, rapidly developing field.
Mr. Phil Ivey!
The Global Poker Award-nominated podcast had long teased that they hoped to have Ivey for episode No. 100, and thanks to Negreanuâs longtime friendship with the 10-time bracelet winner, they were able to make it happen.
Ivey, who has proven one of the more challenging interview âgetsâ in the industry, chatted with the trio for nearly an hour.
âI just want to start off by saying it wasnât very difficult to get me on the show, all Daniel had to do was message me,â Ivey quipped at the top of the show. He then explained a bit about his day-to-day life, which he described as âpretty boringâ before saying that heâs been working on himself, spending time with family, golfing, meditating, and yoga. He also mentioned heâs excited poker is returning and âgetting back out there again.â

For some players such as Daniel Negreanu, a co-host of the podcast, WSOP bracelets are important. Others, namely most of the modern high rollers, aren’t motivated to grind low and middle-stakes events to chase bracelets and the WSOP Player of the Year award.
