Taylor Chip Cookie Co. is getting in to the ice cream business. After winning a key zoning approval last week, the cookie bakery is moving ahead with plans to build a 20,000-square-foot creamery along Route 462 in West Hempfield Township. Construction plans are being finalized for the new Taylor Chip Cookies & Creamery, which would have an ice cream making plant with a retail area while also consolidating the companyâs cooking making at 1780 Columbia Ave. Ice cream would be sold on site, with plans to also distribute it to retailers and offer mail-order sales. âWe wanted to have a place where people could also visit, have an experience, do a tour,â said Doug Taylor, who owns the company with his wife, Sara. âWe will ship ice cream nationally, and will also do all the cookie production there as well.â ....
With the closing of its cookie bake shop at Lancaster Marketplace, Taylor Chip has now opened two new locations. Last week, Taylor Chip opened a small retail shop at bakery in Manheim Township at 1573 Manheim Pike and a production facility in Intercourse at 23 Center St. Along Manheim Pike, Taylor Chip takes a 1,400-square-foot spot that is the former home of Cinnaholic, which is moving to a new spot at 1831 Oregon Pike, the former home of Plum Street Gourmet. In Intercourse, Taylor Chip takes over the former home of Foxâs Pizza Den. Taylor Chip will use most of the former pizza shop for production, although there will eventually be a small retail area as well as customer seating on a deck. ....

Doug Taylor said the Manheim Pike location was chosen because it is close to the current spot in Lancaster Marketplace, which will stay open until the move. In the 1,400-square-foot spot in Granite Run Square shopping center, Taylor Chip will be replacing Cinnaholic, which is slated to open soon in a new spot at 1831 Oregon Pike, the former home of Plum Street Gourmet. ....
The landlord declined Monday to reveal the name of the new tenant. Opened in 2018 and expanded the next year, Lancaster Marketplace at 2084 Fruitville Pike currently has 10 vendors selling baked goods, meat, beauty products and pet treats, among other things. It is open Wednesdays through Saturdays. Situated next to Panera Bread in the Hawthorne Center, Lancaster Marketplace occupies roughly 20% of the 13,300 square foot space that comprises the former Alfredo Angelo bridal shop and space that had been part of the adjacent Fine Wine & Good Spirts store. Kevin Lapp, managing partner of Hawthorne Center who organized Lancaster Marketplace, said a new tenant will lease the entire 13,300-square foot space. He declined to identify the tenant. ....
