Opposition to dark money in politics is a widely-used talking point on the campaign trail for Democrats, as they claim to be against corporate donations and outside interest groups. But a new report from The New York Times
 reveals that Democrats benefited from dark money donated by a foreign billionaire, who bankrolled progressive groups between 2016 and 2020.

Newly obtained tax filings show that Mr. Wyss’s foundations donated $208 million from 2016 through early last year to three nonprofit funds that doled out money to a wide array of groups that backed progressive causes and helped Democrats in their efforts to win the White House and control of Congress last year. ....

Regarding “Shutdown averted as Trump signs aid bill,” (A1, Dec. 28): In the latest COVID-19 relief bill, there are hundreds of millions of dollars going to other countries and to non-COVID purposes such as the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
