Television personality Ross Kemp has become an official ambassador for Thames Hospice. The BAFTA award-winning documentary maker, actor and author, who has lived in Marlow since the 1990s, is a supporter for the cause, and has spent time promoting and helping the charity. Thames Hospice, in Windsor Road, said that it was absolutely thrilled that Ross, 56, had taken on the role. Debbie Raven, chief executive, said: “We are so honoured to have Ross on board as our hospice ambassador. His support makes an incredible difference; he brightens up so many lives and always injects a real buzz and excitement amongst our patients, staff and volunteers when he visits us.” The hospice added that it has several fundraising events planned with Ross throughout this year. Outgoing mayor Cllr Sayonara Luxton undertook her last official engagement on Monday - and it was a very personal one for her. Cllr Luxton presented a cheque for £40,194 to the charity she has supported throughout her 19-month term as Royal Borough mayor, at a socially distanced ceremony at the new state-of-the-art Thames Hospice in Windsor Road, Maidenhead. She had raised the money for the hospice by hosting and participating in a variety of charitable events throughout her term. Councillor Luxton said: “I started fundraising in 2019 with the ‘Steam Dreams’ steam train trip on the Windsor Express. This was followed by other fundraising events such as afternoon tea, a Christmas meal and entertainment and Christmas wreath making. ....
