NEW CONCORD, Ohio- The John and Annie Glenn Museum will be celebrating the 100th would-be birthday of the late John Glenn with a celebration all weekend long. John Glenn was the first American astronaut to orbit the Earth in 1962. The festivities begin tomorrow morning and continue into Sunday. “John Glenn would be 100 years old on Sunday, July 18th. (edit) So the day is going to start tomorrow at 8 o’clock with a Friendship 7-Miler race from Cambridge to New Concord, followed by a parade from Cambridge to New Concord,” Debbie Allender, Operations Director for John and Annie Glenn Museum stated. ....
WHIZ News Area Museum Looking For Volunteers NEW CONCORD, Ohio-The Museum Association of East Muskingum is looking for volunteers to work at its John and Annie Glenn Museum. The museum is located in New Concord and is open Wednesday through Sunday. Operations director Debbie Allender talks about what type of person they’re looking for. “We just want people who are interested in our local history. They don’t have to be an expert at all, just interested and have a little time to give… we give guided tours. This is the John and Annie Glenn Museum so we do guided tours and we also do living history tours on the main floor of the home so we’re also looking for people who are interested in acting for that part.” ....
