It’s the week of the Garfield County Fair and one that youth from across the county have been working towards for many months. A handful of judges who will critique and make the ultimate ribbon decision wait at tables for kids to present their project. Two of those judges are the Martins. Deb and Dieter Martin have been judging 4-H general projects for the fair since 2006. They look forward to it every year and have judged everything from cake decorating to pocket pets to entomology. ....

(Minnesota Bi0-Fuels Association) The Minnesota Bio-Fuels Association (MN Bio-Fuels) and Highwater Ethanol hosted a virtual plant visit for 11 students from Worthington High School on May 6. During the virtual plant visit, the students were given a virtual presentation on the plant’s operations, facts on the ethanol industry, and shown videos on the ethanol production process and the ethanol industry’s economic impact in Minnesota. “It was a pleasure explaining to the students from Worthington High School how we convert the corn grown right here into ethanol and the overall importance of the ethanol industry to Minnesota’s rural economy,” said Brian Kletscher, CEO of Highwater Ethanol ....
Goldline Curling develops BIPOC brooms April 28, 2021 227 views By Josh Giles Writer Goldline Curling has taken it to the next level with representing Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC) peoples. Their most recent endeavor has been to bring a trio of brooms to their line, and one of them is designed by an Indigenous curler. The #UnitedWeCurl is their newest project to represent BIPOC curlers, and has become what they call a passion project. “As the cornerstone piece of the #UnitedWeCurl initiative, Goldline Curling partnered with Andrew Paris, Deb Martin and Greyden Yee Louison to design a special series of curling brooms to promote diversity in curling.” Louison is the Indigenous curler that worked on the First Nations themed broom.
