Montgomery v. Louisiana that its 2012 decision was retroactive. In that time, Amy Breihan has helped seek second chances for prisoners in Missouri who were younger than age 18 when they were sentenced to life behind bars.

The discovery of the New World has made many people prosper and enjoy a better life style than they had in other parts of the world. Do not exclude yourself.
Most explorers worshipped the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob Many of their sailors and occupants on the ships wanted to have that freedom and no longer be oppressed. Some of the occupants had diseases since they lived in close proximity. Science had not invented the necessary vaccines needed to cross the seas like we have today. On whom are we going to practice blame psychology? Perhaps on a man with a vision to better the human condition of that era? I beseech you to do an introspection. Throw the first stone if you do not have a conscience. ....

ABA member and attorney Deborah Espinosa is using photography and storytelling for legal empowerment. “That is one of my main missions, to elevate and amplify the voices of poor and marginalized people and communities,” says Espinosa, who now works as a consultant for Landesa. “Not speak for them they are not voiceless; it’s just their voices do not often have platforms.”

Throughout the year, the ABA Journal profiles exceptional ABA members in its Members Who Inspire series. In 2020, we featured attorneys from across the country whose important and influential work includes using visual storytelling for legal advocacy, bringing attention to the crisis of missing and murdered indigenous women, and combating racial injustice and inequity.
LaToya Bell, an assistant public defender in Houston County in Georgia, handles as many as 200 to 250 cases involving misdemeanors and traffic offenses in state court. She also played a significant role in launching the first drug court in the county and establishing a wills clinic that prepares estate planning documents for local first responders and veterans. ....
