From now until the 2022 legislative session, the Joint Judiciary Committee  will study the state’s handling of kids who run into legal trouble with an eye toward improving Wyoming’s juvenile justice system. 
Judiciary Chairwoman Sen. Tara Nethercott and her cochair, Rep. Jared Olsen both Cheyenne attorneys and Republicans explained the stakes in frank terms in a letter nominating the topic to the Wyoming Legislature’s Management Council.  ....

UW documentary film 'Deer 139' to premiere online March 20th


After a successful year and a half on the film festival and screening circuit, the University of Wyoming’s 55-minute science, adventure and conservation documentary film, “Deer 139,” will premiere online on the spring equinox.
Viewers are invited to join the premiere on YouTube at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 20. A live question-and-answer session with the film’s team will follow the premiere at 7:55 p.m. via a Zoom webinar. Wyoming Youth Home Closure Will Affect Montana Kids

A therapeutic youth home in Sheridan, Wyoming is closing its doors this spring after multiple states have dropped contracts with its parent company nationwide due to reports of violence, abuse and a death at another facility. When Normative Services Inc. Academy closes in March, nearly 50 kids from Montana will need to be transferred elsewhere.
NSI is owned by Sequel Youth and Family Services, a for profit company that runs juvenile treatment centers across the country. Typically, county and state agencies place foster kids, juvenile delinquents and children with behavioral problems in these facilities. ....
