ALEXANDRIA, Va. (June 1, 2021) Pharmacy benefit manager reform legislation signed into law by Gov. Bill Lee (R-Tenn.) is a win for patients and small business pharmacies, the National Community Pharmacists Association says.
“PBMs have exploded in size and in influence in recent years but have been permitted to operate with little regulation, to the detriment of patients and taxpayers,”
says NCPA CEO B. Douglas Hoey, pharmacist, MBA. “With SB1617/HB1398, Tennessee is holding PBMs accountable. We’re grateful to Gov. WASHINGTON, May 25, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Today, more than 130 healthcare groups applauded the introduction of the Pharmacy and Medically Underserved Areas Enhancement Act (S. 1362, H.R. 2759), legislation that will ensure that Medicare beneficiaries in medically underserved areas have access to pharmacists primary care services.
In a letter sent to the bill s original sponsors Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA), Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH), Rep. G.K. Butterfield (D-NC), and Rep. Eleven members of the Class of 2021 who have distinguished themselves for academic excellence, service and leadership at East Tennessee State University have been inducted into the 1911 Society.
Named in commemoration of the year when ETSU was founded, the 1911 Society recognizes the universityâs most notable graduates from undergraduate, graduate and professional programs. The selection committee evaluates applicants on academic achievement; sustained service; honors, awards, recognitions, publications and presentations; demonstrated leadership; work experience, such as study abroad, internships, externships and clinicals; and personal narratives.
