Grantham schools pull out all stops to give pupils warm welcome back to class | Updated: 11:19, 12 March 2021 Schools across Grantham have been pulling out all the stops this week to give their pupils a warm welcome back to the classroom. From Monday, all pupils were able to head back to the classroom after months of remote learning under the first step to ease Covid-19 restrictions. The Department for Education is advising secondary school pupils to wear face coverings and they are being asked to take voluntary Covid-19 tests on site and at home, whereas primary school children have not been asked to take tests or wear masks. ....
Youngsters explore nature for Winterwatch day in schools near Grantham Youngsters at two village primary schools have been immersing themselves in nature. Pupils at Harlaxton Primary School and Denton Primary School were encouraged to spend time away from their screens and remote learning as part of the BBCâs Big Schools Winterwatch Day. Pupils, both at home and keyworker children in school, were able to watch the BBCâs Winterwatch Live Lesson, before school provided all pupils with a bird house to decorate, materials and instructions to make bird food to leave in their gardens. Harleston Beavers member goes above and beyond in earning his lockdown challenge badge | Updated: 10:49, 23 December 2020 The food collection efforts of a boy have resulted in several boxes of items being passed to Waveney Foodbank. Arthur Bentley, six, who lives in Harleston and is a member of the 1st Harleston Scouts-Beavers Colony, earned a lockdown challenge badge by asking everyone at his school to donate what they could to help others who are in danger of going hungry this Christmas. He was given the option to raise money for a foodbank as part of the badge and, after finding out that foodbanks existed to help people who could not afford food, he wrote to his friends at Alburgh with Denton Primary School to help boost donations, going above and beyond what was required for his badge. ....
