The two-day festivities were jam packed with Bayou experiences, including a parade, parties, live music and a Cajun food cook-off competition. Several restaurants in Deadwood took part in providing free food tastings steeped in New Orleans’ rich flavors. For some, it was really all about the authenticity of Southern cuisine. “Got my wife to eat grits, so that’s gotta be amazing. The soup here, great flavor. I was hoping for alligator tail in it,” said Deadwood resident Jim Gwynn.
