Any normal year it s a no-brainer to decide which automotive events you re going to attend. Everybody has their favorite handful of must-see things each year based on their interests and how deep into their project car they ve gotten. But the year 2021 has thrown us a bit of a curve ball. With the global pandemic forcing the cancellation of many cherished outings, you just may have to call an audible at the line of scrimmage. We published our Top 10 Must-See Events story in late January, and since then some of these events have changed, so we re updating the list periodically (this is update #4 as of May 4) to reduce confusion. ....

SHELBY TOWNSHIP The 69th annual Meguiar’s Detroit Autorama was planned to take place at the TCF Center in Detroit April 30-May 2 and feature many vehicles and their owners, including a couple of Shelby Township residents and their vehicles, but Autorama was canceled April 20 due to COVID-19 until next year.
The producer of the show and president and owner of Championship Auto Shows Inc., Peter Toundas, said that as the event dates drew near, organizers had mounting concerns specific to the sharp increase in the number of COVID-19 cases. ....

Another Detroit event will have to wait until 2022.
What s been often called America s Greatest Hot Rod Show has been canceled for 2021. Organizers for the Detroit Autorama have confirmed the 69th annual show, originally scheduled for April 30 - May 2 at the city s TCF Center, is not happening. The official website recently posted an official statement from organizers apologizing for the cancelation, which can be attributed to the pandemic s current surge in Michigan.
As the event dates draw near, we and our partners have mounting concerns specific to the sharp increase in the number of Covid-19 cases, said Peter Toundas, president and owner of Championship Auto Shows, Inc. Our greatest wish is that the Covid-19 numbers would begin to trend downward, but this is not the case. ....
