Dessie O'Hare enforcer jailed for three years for violent forced eviction


A father-of-seven who told gardaí he thought he was attending a job interview but ended up taking part in a violent forced eviction has been jailed for three years.
Desmond McGrath (50) was part of a gang of seven men, including convicted murderer Declan Duffy and INLA kidnapper Dessie O Hare, also known as “The Border Fox”, who falsely imprisoned and tried to evict a family from their home.
McGrath also took part in the assault of a security guard who became involved in the incident, punching and kicking the man.
Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard that five of the men involved, including O Hare and Duffy, were convicted in the Special Criminal Court in 2019. The court heard that O Hare and Duffy were “the ringleaders” of the events. ....

Trial of Jim Mansfield Jnr has been adjourned for almost six months


The trial of Jim Mansfield Jnr, who is accused of setting up a longtime employee to be taken prisoner by a gang, has been adjourned at the Special Criminal Court for almost six months.
This is the second adjournment in the trial, with the property magnate s case previously adjourned for several weeks on November 19 after the defence requested time to view newly disclosed CCTV footage.
Last month, Shane Costelloe SC on behalf of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), submitted that gardai had only become aware that a significant proportion of CCTV footage retained on a hard-drive had never been disclosed to the State. ....

Former INLA man Dessie O Hare, who was known as The Border Fox , has dismissed his lawyers ahead of an appeal against the severity of his seven-year sentence for evicting a family from their home, which was due to take place next week.
O Hare of Slate Rock Road, Newtownhamilton, Co Armagh was last year jailed by the Special Criminal Court for seven years for falsely imprisoning the family in their home and for leading a disturbingly violent attack on another man.  ....

Former INLA man Dessie O Hare, who was known as The Border Fox , has dismissed his lawyers ahead of an appeal against the severity of his seven-year sentence for evicting a family from their home, which was due to take place next week.
O Hare of Slate Rock Road, Newtownhamilton, County Armagh was last year jailed by the Special Criminal Court for seven years for falsely imprisoning the family in their home and for leading a disturbingly violent attack on another man.
The sentence appeal was due to be heard on Monday, however the former terrorist has dispensed with his legal team and has sought the services of a new team of lawyers. ....
