A new robot meteorologist has landed on Mars Scott Sutherland vendredi, 19 février 2021 à 09:00 - Perseverance will help establish the first meteorological network on another planet NASA s Perseverance rover reached its destination on Mars. Now it will begin sending back data on Mars environment and atmosphere, becoming the third robotic meteorologist on the planet. On February 18, the robotic population of Mars increased by two, as the Perseverance rover and its drone companion Ingenuity settled in and begin their preparations to explore Jezero Crater. Perseverance is equipped with an array of cameras and scientific instruments to help it complete its mission. Its primary purpose to look for signs that the ancient river delta located in Jezero was once home to microbial life forms. ....
NASA s Mars Rover Reveals How Cold It Is On Red Planet 04/08/21 AT 1:19 AM Ingenuity is now alone on the surface of Mars after detaching from the belly of the Perseverance rover Photo: NASA/JPL-CALTECH / Handout KEY POINTS NASA s Mars rover shared the first weather report on the surface of the Red Planet The report indicated that the Martian weather was minus 4 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 20 degrees Celsius) The rover is able to study the weather there using a machine called MEDA that is equipped with sensors Weather reports are seen as a vital part of everyday life on Earth as they allow people to know what to anticipate. Seeing as NASA is well on its way to eventually sending humans to Mars, the space agency also made it one of its goals to find out what the weather on the Red Planet is like. Thanks to the Mars Environmental Dynamics Analyzer (MEDA) system aboard Perseverance, scientists now know just how cold it could get on the surface of Mars. ....
NASA’s First Weather Report From Jezero Crater on Mars Perseverance’s MEDA will help us understand how to prepare astronauts for a future on the Red Planet. The weather often plays a role in our daily plans. You might put on a light jacket when the forecast calls for a cool breeze or delay your travel plans because of an impending storm. NASA engineers use weather data to inform their plans, too, which is why they’re analyzing the conditions millions of miles away on Mars. The Mars Environmental Dynamics Analyzer (MEDA) system aboard NASA’s Perseverance rover first powered on for 30 minutes Feb. 19, approximately one day after the rover touched down on the Red Planet. Around 8:25 p.m. PST that same day, engineers received initial data from MEDA. ....
