Texas Ending Pandemic Related Unemployment Benefits Soon
The pandemic wreaked havoc on businesses and families throughout Texas.
As businesses in Texas struggled to keep doors open and employees compensated during the pandemic, Texans scrambled to find ways to keep their families fed and bills paid.
One of the programs offered to unemployed Texans was a $300 weekly unemployment supplement from the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation program.

During Gov. Abbott s press conference Monday he offered a sharp comparison, “
“From leaving Texans to literally freeze to death to letting a deadly virus have an open season on our residents, Governor Abbott has proven many times over that he neither understands the struggles of everyday Texans, nor does he care about doing his basic duty to protect them,” Hinojosa wrote.
“This will kill Texans,” he said.
Hinojosa’s Democratic ally Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo also pointed to last month’s winter storm in her response to Tuesday’s news, and warned that Abbott may be trying to distract Texans from our state government’s failures during that disaster. “At best,” she wrote, “today’s decision is wishful thinking. At worst, it is a cynical attempt to distract Texans from the failures of state oversight of our power grid.”

Yesterday was a BIG news day for Texas as Gov. Abbott announced that Texas was going to be opened 100% on Wednesday, March 10th and if that wasn t news enough, Gov. Abbott added that he was eliminating the mask mandate for Texas on that day as well.

There are varying opinions on his announcements naturally, however, no matter what you think of the latest executive order, which you can read in its entirety here, many Texans are just appreciative that we now have a choice in the matter.
With that being said, within yesterday s latest executive order, Gov. Abbott also gave businesses the authority to choose not just for themselves but their employees and their customers on whether they would require masks within their establishments.
