The City of San Luis Obispo announced the selection of a new police chief on Wednesday.
City officials say they provided a conditional offer to Rick Scott, who is currently the Assistant Police Chief in North Richland Hills, Texas.
Officials say Scott is focused on community engagement, transparency and trust, and in his current role, successfully engaged and empowered underrepresented segments of the community on joint public safety initiatives. Rick Scott embraces the unique challenges of law enforcement today, with a leadership style that embodies our community s values around diversity, equity and inclusion, said Derek Johnson, San Luis Obispo City Manager.
Women’s History Month presentation to feature Fairfield police chief

FAIRFIELD The new Fairfield chief of police will be one of four women featured in the third in a series Women’s History Month presentations by the Solano Commission for Women and Girls.
Deanna Cantrell, who was hired as the first female chief in the city, will be joined by Elease Cheek, a businesswoman, trustee on the Solano County Board of Education and president of the Black Chamber of Commerce; Cynthia Garcia, Solano Superior Court Collaborative Courts manager; and K. Patrice Williams, chief executive officer of BrandGOV Outreach and founder of Hazel’s Tranquility Place.

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - A couple who was arrested and charged with child endangerment after their home was searched by law enforcement looking for former San Luis Obispo police chief s missing gun has pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor count of child endangerment.
The home of Cheyne Orndoff, 35, and Vanessa Bedroni, 32, was searched on July 10, 2019 by law enforcement as part of an ongoing search for then-chief Deanna Cantrell s service firearm which she had left in a restaurant bathroom.
The home was searched and Orndoff and Bedroni were arrested after police said methamphetamine and heroin were being kept where children were easily able to touch or ingest them.
