On Saturday, May 8, the Veterans’ HEAT Factory (VHF) held an event at VFW Post 10209 to raise money for their mission – helping Veterans and First Responders who suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress.
A local rock and roll band, Remember When, headlined by former RCA recording artist Lenny Emanuelli performed songs from the 1950’s through the 1980’s. Enthusiastic members of the audience danced to such oldies as “Johnny B. Goode,” “My Girl,” “Dancing in the Moonlight,” and “Hit Me with Your Best Shot.”
Gaye Hieb, Chaplain of the VFW Auxiliary, gave the Invocation. Public Relations Coordinator Sarah Nachin, speaking on behalf of Gus Guadagnino, who could not be there, welcomed everyone to the event. Guadagnino is the founder and CEO of Veterans’ HEAT Factory.   ....

These scrappy off-Strip venues have kept Las Vegas' live entertainment heart beating

Brock Radke Thu, Feb 25, 2021 (2 a.m.)
You’re about to be immersed in the phrase “Vegas is back!” It will probably include the exclamation point more often than not. This is a good thing not the exclamation point, the other parts that everyone should be excited about, even though Vegas won’t be all the way back for a little while longer.
On February 15, the rules changed for the first time since November. The maximum capacity permitted inside restaurants, bars, lounges, showrooms and other businesses and entertainment venues was bumped up to 35% or 100 people, whichever is fewer. More importantly, March 15 was set as the date for the next adjustment, returning those venues to 50% capacity or 250 people, giving them all a much greater chance of surviving what we all hope are the last months of this pandemic. ....

Extension School Students Seek Degree Name Change, Consider Current Labeling 'Unethical,' 'Disrespectful' | News

As online education persists during the ongoing pandemic, Harvard Extension School students have renewed calls on the University to alter the school’s degree names to “accurately reflect students’ programs of study,” according to an open letter penned by the Harvard Extension Student Association.
Currently, all Extension School degrees label the field of study as “in Extension Studies” instead of referencing the student’s specific field. Some Extension School students said they believe this component of their degrees does not accurately reflect their programs of study.
“The degree name is just a misrepresentation of the field of study,” said Sylvia A. Black, director of events for the Harvard Extension Student Association. “We’ve earned our degrees and our degrees should reflect the area of study.” ....
