It’s a campaign which has been backed by the likes of Gothenburg Great Jim Leighton and music legend Annie Lennox.
Ever since the appeal was launched in 2017, staff and volunteers at Sue Ryder Dee View Court in Aberdeen have taken part in firewalks, abseils, walking initiatives and organised a wide range of other charity ventures to build a major extension at Scotland’s only neurological centre in Kincorth.
The fundraising has faced significant challenges, not least because of the Covid pandemic, but Sue Ryder officials have confirmed they have reached their imposing £3.9m target – and this offers enhanced facilities and quality of life for up to 44 people with a variety of serious conditions, including Huntington’s disease, severe stroke, MND and acquired brain injuries. ....

Aberdeen care centre Dee View Court has smashed its £3.9million fundraising target to nearly double its capacity.
Charity Sue Ryder has reached the phenomenal total to cover the costs of converting unused areas of the complex into living space.
The exhaustive appeal, which even received a visit from the Queen, has created 20 new bedrooms to boost the capacity to 44.
Specialist centre is only one of its kind
Dee View Court is Scotland’s only purpose-built care centre for those living with neurological conditions and acquired brain injury. ....

Three Aberdeen charities will receive a cash boost thanks to city accountants and tax advisors Meston Reid and Co.
The firm is donating the money it would normally spend on its Christmas party – as well as donations from its staff – to a trio of good causes.
Mental Health Aberdeen, Sue Ryder Care’s specialist neurological centre at Dee View Court and Aberdeen Cyrenians will all benefit from an equal share of a £2,160 fund.
The money is made up of £1,500 that would normally go towards the firm’s festive celebrations as well as £330 of donations by staff that have been matched by Meston Reid. ....
