Former Surrey Councilor Judy Higginbotham Is Ready For A Comeback

SURREY – She’s back! Elected in 1983 as a city councillor, Judy Higginbotham served for 25 years before retiring. Before that she worked as a teacher and in broadcasting. She is now an active volunteer for organizations like the Surrey City Orchestra, the Rotary Club of Semiahmoo, the Federal Senior Liberals’ Commission of BC and more. While she was on council, Higginbotham worked on crime prevention and collaborated with Options Community Services, helping them set up a daycare in North Surrey High School. Judy received Business Woman of the Year from the Surrey Business Professional Women’s Association, as well as the Solicitor General’s Crime Prevention award for her work in crime prevention.

Winton’s Way Out West Fest The six-day celebration of country music in the Outback is back with an all Australian line-up. Lee Kernaghan will headline the Way Out West Fest.  ABC Music Save Share The festival was paused in 2020 as a result of the pandemic but this year it is back with an all Australian line-up of acts including Lee Kernaghan, Sheppard, Daryl Braithwaite, The Wolfe Brothers and Beccy Cole. The event has been timed to coincide with school holidays and includes child-friendly shows including comedy characters the Crackup Sisters to complement the town’s permanent Australian Age of Dinosaurs museum, Waltzing Matilda Centre and Truck Museum.

OKC AUTO SHOW: Classic GM Futurliner headlines OKC Auto Show with COVID-19 precautions in place

Thousands of people are expected to be at State Fair Park this weekend for the Oklahoma City Auto Show, during which people can see unique vehicles while COVID-19 safety precautions are in place.One of the hard-to-miss sights at the auto show is the GM Futurliner. It’s one of 12 built more than 80 years ago, and only nine still exist.“They were built by General Motors for their Parade of Progress,” said Dave Yard, executive director of the National Automotive and Truck Museum.General Motors took the 12 Futurliners on a tour of the country, showing medium and rural areas a glimpse of what the future would hold.“When this was built in 1939, most people did not have access to a newspaper,” Yard said. “There were no telephones in a lot of these areas, and, of course, there was no television. So, news was second-hand and traveled very slowly.”Each Futurliner had a stage and a different theme. They even had rotary phones, jet propulsion and microwave technology.“By 195
