Ridgeley to look at roles of mayor, council Mineral Daily News-Tribune Tribune Correspondent RIDGELEY – With the municipal election set for June 8, the Ridgeley mayor and council are taking a closer look at how the town operates; looking to understand the role each official plays, their duties, responsibilities and boundaries. “I think we need to define what the mayor can do with the council and without the council,” said councilman Duke Lantz. “It’s about communication and the roles are not defined.” “It would make the mayor’s job easier,” said mayor Mark Jones. The council has struggled to get plans and prices for the new building to be constructed on the site of the former Ridgeley School to house the mayor and council, town clerk, public works and the police department. ....
2021 to bring town election for Ridgeley Mineral Daily News-Tribune Tribune Correspondent RIDGLEY – The seats of the mayor and all council members are up for election June 8 in Ridgeley. Those interested in running for town office can apply at the Ridgeley town hall Jan. 11 through Jan. 30 during regular business hours. Those filing for the mayor’s seat must be 21 years or older, a resident for one year and a registered voter. The filing fee for mayor is $50. For council, residents must be 18 years of age, a resident for six months and a registered voter. The filing fee for council is $25. Mark Jones is the sitting mayor and serving on the council are Warren Harness, Nick Imes, Duke Lantz, Don McFarland and Jim Twigg. ....
