How you can start slimming your screen time (WQOW) - The warmer months ahead are the perfect time to ditch the devices and get outside! To help with that goal, Mayo Clinic Health System is introducing a new Slim Your Screen Time challenge. According to the CDC, kids age 8 to 18 spend an average of four-and-a-half hours a day looking at screens outside of educational activities. Mayo Clinic Health System officials said this number should be significantly lower, recommending children under two see no screen time, and school-aged children and older should only look at screens for up to two hours a day.

Despite pandemic, School of Rock Broomfield continues to bring joy through music

For years, students as young as 5 and as old as 70 have come together under one roof to share their love of music. Whether it was for individual lessons with an instructor or a large band practice, students have learned to call the School of Rock in Broomfield their home away from home. But in March, when the COVID-19 pandemic struck Colorado, the school s eight lesson rooms and two rehearsal rooms that traditionally echoed with the sounds of guitars, drums, singers and laughter became silent.  Our business model and our community is pretty social and so much of what we do is group based, and our school is sort of a hangout location for some of our students, and that all went away overnight, said Jessica Moriarta, the owner of School of Rock Broomfield.
