In 1911, the White Sox had defeated the Cubs in the City Series in 4 games, then the teams had met in additional game for charity at Comiskey Park. The story was the same in 1912, except the City Series took 9 games, due to a pair of ties. The 1912 rematch following the South Siders seventh-game victory was for a different charity. Instead of a hospital, proceeds were earmarked for the Women s Trade Union League. Most of the players who competed in the city championship battles will appear in the charity game, the Chicago Tribune wrote on Saturday, Oct. 19, a day before the contest at Comiskey Park. Reulbach, Leifield, and Cheney will pitch for the Cubs; Benz, Lamline, and Lange for the Sox. Archer and Cotter will catch for the west siders and Sullivan and Schalk will receive for the Callahans. ....
