The Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District has announced it is entering contract negotiations with Jennifer Huotari to become its next superintendent.
The DIISD Board of Education unanimously selected Huotari from among an initial field of 12 applicants. She has been the DIISD’s finance director for the past 10 years.
Huotari will take over for Wendy Warmuth, who is retiring June 30 after 33 years with the ISD, 10 as superintendent. The board thanks and wishes Warmuth well in retirement.

The Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District will have a special meeting at 4 p.m. today at 1074 Pyle Drive, Borga Center, Kingsford, for the purpose of the superintendent search. The board’s regular meeting will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Borga Center. For more information, go to https://www.diisd.org/.
Florence County Board of Education will have a special meeting at 5:15 p.m. today in the auditorium of Florence High School. Agenda items include a COVID-19 update, referendum results, tennis court reconditioning and a closed session for consideration of contracts and specific student matters.
Iron Mountain School Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. today in the school auditorium at 300 W. B St. An electronic link will be available on the front page at www.imschools.org five minutes before the meeting. Agenda items include modifications to the learning plan and new hirings.

KINGSFORD Rapid COVID-19 testing will be offered Monday at Kingsford High School to coincide with the end of spring break at local schools, the Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District announced.
The test will be provided from noon to 6 p.m. Monday in the parking lot of the high school, 431 Hamilton Ave. in Kingsford. It is open to any age who shows up at the testing site, the DIISD stated in a news release posted on the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department’s Facebook page.
Participants are asked to fill out a pre-registration form for each person to be tested, available online at http://honumg.info/KingsfordHS or on the DIISD website at www.diisd.org.
