CEPD’s engineer suggests Great Lakes for project By TIFFANY REPECKI / [email protected] - | May 11, 2021 UPDATE: At its May 10 meeting, the CEPD commission voted 4-0 to accept its staff and consultants’ recommendations and award the bid to Great Lakes Dredge & Dock. The Captiva Erosion Prevention District’s engineering firm for the upcoming beach renourishment project presented its bid recommendation to the commission during a recent workshop meeting. On May 6, APTIM Coastal Planning & Engineering’s Coastal Restoration and Modeling Program Manager Nicole Sharp and Coastal Protection Engineering’s Principal Engineer Thomas Pierro a subcontractor for APTIM recommended the bidder Great Lakes Dredge & Dock for the project. ....
CEPD hears bids for beach renourishment project By TIFFANY REPECKI / [email protected] - | May 4, 2021 The Captiva Erosion Prevention District’s staff provided the commission with an update on the bids received for the upcoming beach renourishment project during a recent workshop meeting, along with an overview of the apportionment methodology theories that staff have been examining to pay for it. On April 29, Technical Director Daniel Munt gave a presentation on three different models being researched to determine how property owners could be assessed to cover the project, which include a benefits based model, hybrid one involving ad valorem and public beach access proximity model. ....
Sea Level Rise Committee presents proposal before CEPD By TIFFANY REPECKI / [email protected] - | Mar 9, 2021 The Captiva Erosion Prevention District’s commission recently heard from the Captiva Community Panel’s Sea Level Rise Committee about a funds request to continue with its adaption planning. At a CEPD workshop on March 4, members of the panel’s SLR Committee presented the district commissioners with an Adaptation Alternatives Proposal prepared by its consultant, Cheryl Hapke of Integral Consulting, along with a request for the CEPD to partially fund or fund the $34,400 cost. Panel Member and SLR Committee Chair Linda Laird kicked off the presentation by providing background on Hapke and her firm and an overview of their collaborative work done to date. ....
